Happy Valentine\u2019s Day, or as a good friend calls it, Happy Validation Day!!\u00a0 This is a day set aside normally for the expression of love.\u00a0 What if we take my friend’s advice and more inclusively offer expressions of validation to all those around us?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Who among us couldn\u2019t use a bit more validation?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Perhaps to the exhausted parent in the grocery store, you could say something like \u201cYou are doing a wonderful job.\u201d\u00a0 Maybe to the coworker who constantly does all the little mundane jobs in the background, you could say something like \u201cI can\u2019t tell you how much I appreciate all that you do.\u201d Certainly we could spare a few words for the cashier at the fast food restaurant.\u00a0 Maybe you could remind THEM to have a great day!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
All around us are opportunities to let people know that they matter in our lives.\u00a0 This past Sunday, I challenged those present to think about those we haven\u2019t seen in awhile from our community, and to reach out to three different people. I\u2019m extending that challenge out to all of you.\u00a0 Who do you miss?\u00a0 Who needs to know they are loved?\u00a0 Who needs to be validated and reminded that they are not only worthy, but an integral part of our Beloved Community?<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The best part is that we don\u2019t have to be limited to one day of connection, we can make it everyday!<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I am so grateful for each and every one of you.\u00a0 I love you, and I\u2019m honored to share this journey with you.<\/p>\n
