A distinguished (now retired) Professor of Nursing at UAB and international champion of global health training and resources, Dr. Wilson led the establishment of a Refugee Interest Group within the Unitarian Universalist Church of Birmingham. In 2019 an expanded multi-faith and community organizations group was incorporated as a 501C3 charitable non-profit. Lynda serves as its President of ALIRP and as chair of its 11-member board. ALIRP’s 80+ active volunteers continue to work tirelessly to address their mission of supporting refugees and asylum-seekers through direct assistance, education, and advocacy.
