Alabama has one of the highest poverty rates in the country. West Alabama Food Bank (WAFB) was incorporated in 1987 as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization whose mission is to help alleviate hunger and food insecurity in nine West Alabama counties. The counties served are Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa. WAFB collects surplus and salvageable food and distributes it to agencies serving a population of more than 315,000 residents.

Community service worker program
Brown Box program for needy elderly
Mobile Food Pantry & Mini-Mobile Pantry
