Move to Amend is a national grassroots organization of people seeking the passage of a constitutional amendment which would overthrow the two U.S. Supreme Court imposed doctrines of “corporate personhood” and “money equals speech”.  These two concepts form the twin pillars contributing to income and wealth inequality and the loss of democratic decision making in the United States.   UUCT Social Justice Team members have played a key role in the founding and growth of Move to Amend-Tuscaloosa.

Our Social Justice Team has supported Move to Amend-Tuscaloosa in the following ways:

  • In February 2015, UUCT hosted a Move to Amend-Tuscaloosa screening of the film “Shadows of Liberty”.
  • In April 2015, the UUCT congregation officially adopted a resolution supporting the Move to Amend “We the People” Amendment.
  • In March 2016, UUCT leaders led the effort whereby Move to Amend-Tuscaloosa’s membership successfully completed a required Movement Education Program, and adopted their Three Year Strategic Plan.
