Druid City Pride
Druid City Pride is the largest and most active organization advocating for the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT+) people in the Tuscaloosa-West Alabama area. They pursue their educational and advocacy work in local, state, and national venues. Druid City Pride was formed out of the Tuscaloosa Pride March events spearheaded by UUCT’s Social Justice Team in 2014 and 2015. Our UUCT congregation has supported Druid City Pride in the following ways:
- In October 2014, UUCT members led the first ever Tuscaloosa Pride March.
- In October 2015, several Social Justice Team members participated in the planning and mobilization of the UUCT congregation’s presence at the Tuscaloosa City Pride March for National Coming Out Day.
- In June 2016, several UUCT members participated in community vigil, arranged by Druid City Pride, following the Orlando mass killings.
- Several of our members are on the planning board planning the Druid City Pride event for October 23, 2016.
